I cried tonight. A poem by Olivia Evans.

I cried tonight.

I cried thinking about all the hurt in the world.

The suffering, the pain.

I cried for the children in need,

For the animals abused.

I cried for those whose lives were taken too soon,

Those who are dealt the worst hand, stay strong, but ultimately fall.

I cried for the lost, for those waiting to be found, for the found who still feel lost.

For those I cried.

.

I cried thinking about all the hate in the world.

The greed, the anger.

I cried for the power hungry,

For the ignorant souls.

I cried for those who put others down in order to feel good,

Those who choose money over kindness, popularity over loyalty, quantity over quality.

I cried for the bullies, for those who can’t appreciate the good, and crave what is bad.

For those I cried.

.

I cried asking myself “will it ever change?”

Can we open our hearts and put to rest all the pain?

Or will it be too late?

I cried for the times we made the wrong choice,

For the avoidable mistakes.

I cried for those who are wounded, broken hearted, and giving up,

Those who kept fighting but in the end just gave in.

I cried for those who’ve been let down, who have lost what they love.

.

I cried for the world tonight,

For you, I cried.
